Had a wonderful experience at Peoples Jewellers at the Burlington Centre. In an extremely stressful time of the year, Anton made finding just what I was looking for as straightforward as possible. He was so friendly and helpful, I wouldn't hesitate to seek out his assistance in the future.
I’ve given this store multiple chances over the years, and every visit somehow manages to be more uncomfortable than the last. The first red flag was when I came in to buy my wife’s engagement ring. I described the style I was looking for and—without ever mentioning a budget—was told we could “look at something more in my price range.” I took that suggestion and spent money on a ring at another jeweler. Since then, I’ve had repeated experiences of being ignored to the point where I’ve had to look up prices on my own phone because no one acknowledged me. My most recent visit confirmed nothing has changed. There were three employees in the store: one helping a customer, two standing together talking. I waited four minutes (I timed it) without so much as a greeting. Another couple walked in and was helped immediately. That was my cue to leave without asking to see anything. I went to a different jewelry store where I was welcomed right away, treated with basic courtesy, and ended up ordering custom pieces. If you enjoy being judged on assumptions rather than treated like a customer, this may be the place for you. Otherwise, there are plenty of jewelers who understand that respect shouldn’t be selective.
The walk through and purchase of the ring and placing the custom order was seamless, everything about that was smooth and easy. The ring itself turned out gorgeous. My beautiful lady said yes. But that’s about all the good regarding the purchase. I was told multiple times that my engagement ring would be ready for pick up no longer than 2.5-3 weeks after the date of purchase. I got a phone call 3 weeks after my purchase date asking what size the ring was supposed to be and when I needed it by. I didn’t get my ring for another 2 weeks after that, and when it was finally ready I was called and told there was an issue with the ring where their jeweller “accidentally”buffed out the heart that interlocks the band and the engagement ring. How is that even possible? This is the biggest and most important purchase of my life, and it felt like there was zero urgency or care regarding it. Not only was I given my ring weeks after I was supposed to get it, it wasn’t even done properly. There was no offer of compensation either. I would not recommend using Peoples for any jewelry needs, especially not for anything important. ^ that was what I had originally had typed up as a review. I held off on posting as they attempted to make things right by offering a few options I could entertain after I voiced my displeasure. I ended up settling on them making me a custom pendant for my fiance, “free of charge” they said. They got the pendant made up a few weeks later, and tell me that I now have to purchase a chain from them, and then they’ll send it back to the jeweller to get the pendant permanently placed onto the chain. So not only did you mess up the most important and biggest purchase of my life in multiple ways, you want me to pay for the piece you’re supposed to be giving to me as an apology. How in the world is that considered compensation? The company gets rewarded, the manager gets commission, and I get more money taken out of my pocket? After paying for a wedding ring in full with cash that was both egregiously late and not done properly? After I had said that it was unacceptable to expect me to pay anything they then take the pendant back, add a “bail” to it so I no longer have to buy a chain from them and can attach my own. So I ended up getting my (incredibly tiny, smaller than pinky nail) pendant, but the cognitive dissonance and/or audacity to try and make me give them even more money after their screw ups is insane. This was supposed to change my review and how I felt about People’s, but it left it exactly as it was. 1/5 stars. Go anywhere else to get your engagement/wedding rings. I kept all emails for proof of timelines and promises made/broken. I do not expect anything else from People’s by doing this review, I’d just like to inform people so they can consider somewhere else so they don’t have to deal with stress that I had to
Recently I brought in my engagement ring for a repair (replacement of a diamond and new center prong). I dealt directly with Victoria, the store's Manager. Victoria was extremely helpful, managed to sort out an error in the original estimate and was very personable and professional throughout the experience. Although my engagement ring was not purchased at People's, my husband and I have purchased other jewelry from this store. We have always received exceptional service. A big thanks to Victoria for her kind and professional assistance and approachable nature!
I had the best experience this past week with Victoria at this peoples location, she was so tentative, answered all my questions and provided such excellent service. I will definitely be back to purchase more items from her. I wish every store I shop at could have associates that are as helpful as her! Highly recommended. Thanks again Victoria!
Visited the store to return an item. The store manager was less than friendly, and despite being the only customer, I felt like a nuisance. Clearly, they’re focused on sales, and once a return is involved, the service goes downhill. Lack of friendliness and customer service is so apparent these days—it should be noted that a small effort goes a long way in that department.
I had a fantastic experience at the store, thanks to Twinkle’s exceptional assistance. She was incredibly kind, attentive, and truly took the time to understand my preferences. With her help, I found a stunning necklace for my wife, and I couldn’t be happier with the choice. Her professionalism and keen eye for detail made the entire shopping experience enjoyable and stress-free. I highly recommend her and the store—100% satisfaction!
